Face Painters NH is here to answer all of your questions, whether you’re an experienced corporate event planner or a mom organizing a first birthday. Our goal is to make the process of booking a face painter easy and straightforward.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to our office, and we’d be happy to assist!
How much does face painting cost?
Several factors determine the cost of hiring a face painter in NH, which makes it difficult to list prices online. Variables like location, time of year, and the number of guests all play a role in pricing.
If you reach out to our office with details about your event, we’ll provide multiple quotes at different price points via email. We typically respond to emails Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm, as we entertain at events during evenings and weekends.
How large or small can my event be?
We’ve handled everything from small birthday parties with just 2-3 kids to corporate events with as many as 10,000 guests.
For smaller events, since we usually have a time minimum, we’ll provide options for combination packages that mix face painting, balloon twisting, and other activities to maximize your time and budget.
For larger events, you’ll receive our à la carte pricing, allowing you to choose the number of labor hours and artists needed to meet your event’s timeline. While artists generally have a 2-hour minimum, we’ve provided up to 10 artists for a single event when necessary.
What do I need to prepare for my face painter?
We have a few requirements to ensure your face painter and guests are fully prepared and ready to go.
Table: Please provide a standard-height table (not a high-top bar or a small child’s table) with a space of about 3’x2′. This is roughly the size of half a folding table or two school desks.
Two Chairs: Ideally, these should be folding or dining room chairs, separate from the table. Please avoid using picnic tables, high bar stools, children’s chairs, or camping chairs if possible.
Water: Any water access will work (a bathroom is perfect), but if there’s no potable water at your event, two bottles of water will be sufficient.
Mindful Shade, Heat, or Climate Control: For the safety of our face painters and your guests, remember that New Hampshire summers can be hot, and winters can be cold! Artists should be placed in the shade if temperatures exceed 70°F and in heated environments if it’s below 60°F. If temperatures rise above 100°F, an indoor, air-conditioned space must be provided. (We’ve had both artists and guests faint in extreme heat, so please take this seriously!)
Meanwhile, we provide:
- One professional face painter
- All face painting supplies
- Menus of design options
- Anything else required for the face painting experience
For events with multiple artists:
- Artists can share tables but need two chairs each.
- Consider where the line will form (one shared line for all artists is often most efficient).
- We don’t provide large signage, but we’re happy to collaborate with your design team if you’d like to create large boards.
For events with more than two artists, please discuss logistical details with the Face Painters NH office to ensure smooth coordination.
What face painting designs do you have? Do you have a menu?
Yes, we do provide menus! While we don’t post photos of them online (since each artist has their own unique style), our typical menu consists of 3 laminated pages featuring around 60 designs. Additionally, our artists are happy to create custom designs for your guests.
For large events, be sure to ask our office about our Speedy Menu: a selection of 9 simple yet cool designs made to move guests through the line efficiently!
We also have 4 holiday menus:
- Easter / Secular Spring
- Patriotic (4th of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Labor Day)
- Halloween / Fall
- Christmas / Chanukah / Secular Winter
Each of those 4 menus is created to make sure there are options for every child, regardless of their family’s celebrations or beliefs.
If you do not see a holiday listed above, we do not currently have a menu for that holiday. We currently do not have the capacity to create custom menus for events, although our artists can improvise for smaller events or themes.
Where in New Hampshire are you based out of?
We are based out of Milford, NH with artists in Nashua, Manchester, and the surrounding suburbs. Additionally, we have offices in Boston, MA, Worcester, MA, Cumberland, RI, and West Hartford, CT, and we proudly serve areas of VT and ME.
We’re proud to be a locally owned New England company!
Will face painting ruin kids’ clothing?
Typically, face paint does not stain. However, certain colors like red, blue, and black may stain specific fabrics (white pure cotton is particularly susceptible). If you’re concerned, we recommend booking balloon twisting or another creative art form instead.
Who is coming to my event? Who is Face Painters NH?
We have several talented face painters on our team, and we’re happy to provide their bios upon request. All of our artists have backgrounds in art or education, and the majority are women. If you’d like to receive the bio of the artist attending your event, please let us know when booking.
How do you remove the face paint?
Our face paint is formulated specifically for kids and made in the USA, so whatever you typically use to wash their faces or remove makeup will work perfectly for taking the paint off.
We recommend using a washcloth or paper towel instead of putting your kids directly in the bath, as face paint can run into the water and leave a (temporary) tint on the skin.
What ages is face painting for? Is it only for girls?
Face painting is fun for all ages and genders! Our menus offer a wide variety of designs for everyone, including superheroes, monsters, princesses, and animals.
If you’re planning an event for teens, college students, or adults, be sure to ask about our glitter look menus for an extra touch of sparkle.
What’s in the face paint? Is it safe for kids?
Our face paint is exceptionally safe for children, and in over a decade of work, we’ve never had a single reaction.
We use a blend of Mehron, Fab, and Tag face paints, which are all vegan, cruelty-free, halal/kosher, free of common allergens, and contain no heavy metals.
Check out the Safety Data Sheets, full lists of allergens, and more click here.
Can Face Painters NH work for free or volunteer?
Our artists work as face painters around their school schedules and second jobs to help cover student loans, rent, and living expenses.
The Face Painters NH office receive hundreds of requests for unpaid work each year, and currently, the only events we can accommodate are for our existing 501(c)(3) clients who occasionally request donations beyond their budgets for paid events.
While we wish we could do more, the volume of requests we receive exceeds what we’re able to offer as donations.
Can your face painters come in costume?
Yes, some of our face painters can come in costume! Please inquire about availability and pricing with our office when booking your event.
Can I have Face Painters NH at my pool party?
Our face paint is gentle on the skin and washes off easily… which means it will come off in the pool.
If you’re looking for a water-proof activity, we recommend glitter, flash, or airbrush tattoos, as well as balloon twisting.
What’s the cancelation policy of Face Painters NH?
We require a 50% deposit to hold all party bookings, with the remaining balance due 24 hours before your event.
If you need to cancel due to illness, issues with the event space, weather, or other planning problems, we will do our best to transfer your deposit to another date within 365 days. However, if we’re unable to accommodate a new date that fits your schedule, the 50% deposit is non-refundable.
Please note, we do not hold rain dates as backups due to high demand.
If we need to cancel due to extreme weather (typically blizzards, but also severe flooding or air quality issues, which are becoming more common in New Hampshire), we will either offer a full refund or work with you to reschedule within 365 days.
Can I buy face paint from you? Can I throw my event at your space? I’m local to New Hampshire.
No, we do not operate a storefront, event venue, or sell products. Our location in Milford, NH serves as our office and training space for artists, but we do not host private parties or offer retail services there.
